2018 Commercial Pilot ASEL Checkride Prep Cram Course

Welcome to cramming and prepping for your ASEL Commercial Pilot Checkride!  Expect this course to take you 5-8 hours (feel free to spend more and review the information several times).

This Checkride Prep Course Will:

  • Prepare you for the Oral Exam
  • Show you complete Commercial Pilot Oral Exams so you can see exactly what questions are asked and what to expect
  • Give you a condensed “cheat sheet” to study from to keep it all as simple as possible
  • Explain how to look up ADs and Maintenance Records to ensure you are legal to fly the plane
  • Show you how to keep up with all the latest regulations from the FAA so you can show the examiner you will always be informed and never violate a regulation.
  • Demonstrate the Maneuvers you will have to fly for your Commercial Pilot Checkride
  • Prepare you for exactly what to expect on the day of your Checkride

This course has short quizzes spaced out throughout the course to help you get an idea of exactly where you are with your commercial pilot knowledge and whether or not you need some extra review of a certain topic or not.

What you should already know coming into this course:

  • Airspace
  • Basic Regulations (medical duration, currency requirements, minimum operating equipment, etc.)
  • Basic Maneuvers and Aerodynamics

If you need a refresher on any of the above, don’t worry!  With you First Officer Membership you can Enroll in the Premium Private Pilot Ground School and click around through the topics where you feel you need the most review, and skip the topics you already feel comfortable with!  At the top of the page, Click on “Courses” and “Private Pilot Courses” to review!

FOI Written Prep (beta)

FAA Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI) Written

This course is designed to prepare you for the Fundamentals of Instruction FAA written exam for your Flight Instructor or Ground Instructor’s certificates.

While this course will also be a big help in getting you ready for your CFI oral exam and Checkride, the way the FAA has structured the FOI material on the written test is not exactly how the examiner will be asking you to apply the material on your Oral.  For this reason, it is important you study this material the way we present it here, and then review FOI material again when we present again later in another CFI prep course.

In simple terms, the written and the oral are two different things, study this material, pass your written, forget about it (mostly), and we’ll prep you again on FOI material the exact way you need it for your checkride later on in a separate course.

BFR / Rusty Pilot Course

In this course we’ll take you through a few quick brief refreshers for those of you who are getting ready for a Flight Review with an instructor, whether you fly regularly or even if it has been 10 years since you’ve been in the cockpit!

There is no time requirement to complete this course. You can spend as much time reviewing as you wish, or just skip around to the information you want to review the most.  At the end of the course, you’ll see a full Flight Review (it used to be called a BFR, now we call it a Flight Review) on the ground and in the air (The required 1 hour of ground and 1 hour of flight).

Young Eagles Course

This course will take you through the basics of what makes an airplane fly, and how to fly an airplane!  After this course, you’ll be ready to take the controls on your first flight with the help of your instructor!

Real World Pilot Workshop

Take this course and learn everything your instructor didn’t teach you during flight training.  Learning everything you need to know in 40 hours or even 250 hours is near impossible.  Follow along with this journey from Alaska to Florida and all 50 states as we share our experiences (both good and bad) with you along the way.  Learn more about ATC, airspace, communications, decision making, weather, and everything else you could encounter on a trip across North America!

Note: this course will continue to grow as we add more lessons and content as we continue to fly around the country and visit all of our students home airports along the way!  New lessons will continue to be added through December 2021.

Tailwheel Training Single Course

For those pilots who want to fly “REAL” airplanes

Back in the day when the first airplanes were built, they all had “conventional” landing gear, and were either taildraggers or tailwheel airplanes.

It’s true these airplanes require sharp piloting skills to safely operate, however its the way pilots have been flying for over 100 years and it is reasonable that any pilot can operate one of these aircraft with the proper training.

In this course you will get an introduction to the operation of tailwheel/taildragger aircraft while taxiing, taking off, and landing (they really fly the exact same in the air as their nosewheel counterparts).

Note: this is a single course purchase that gives you access to the course for 180 days.  If you want access to more courses, you can purchase a subscription for $29/mo and get access to 6 other courses too!
