The required documents
On the day you solo, you’ll need to carry a few specific things with you. Besides the required documents for the airplane, you as the PIC (pilot in command) will need to carry with you:
- Government-issued photo ID
- Student Pilot Certificate
- Medical (if applicable)
- Logbook with appropriate endorsements
- A big smile! 🙂
If you haven’t already applied for your student pilot certificate, you’ll want to do that ASAP! You don’t actually have to be taking flight lessons to apply for one. You’ll need to sit down with your instructor, and complete the form as shown in the video above to send your information into the FAA. It typically takes 4-6 weeks for your plastic card (pilot certificate) to come in the mail.
